http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088 likely to get clearance from the Integrity Committee on August 15 – Cricket News Update
Former Pakistan captain, Shoaib Malik, has been asked by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB) to report to its Integrity Committee on August 15, 2011, so that a decision can be taken in regard to his future.
Malik has been out of the Pakistan cricket team since the controversial tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 last year and there have been question marks about the funds in his bank accounts.
The all-rounder is considered to be an ideal cricketer for the limited overs format of the game but Pakistan missed his services in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011 and subsequent series.
However, chances are high that he will be cleared by the Integrity Committee this time round. He was named amongst the reserve players, when the selection committee announced the squad for the upcoming tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045.
The Chief Operating Officer of PCB, Subhan Ahmed, has said that the former captain cannot represent Pakistan, unless or until he gets clearance from the Integrity Committee. He also clarified that Malik can be a part of Pakistan’s tour
to Zimbabwe, if he comes out clean from this controversy.
Subhan said, "The present position is that the integrity committee has still not given clearance to Malik so he can't play for Pakistan. He will appear on the 15th before the committee which will then decide what to do. The selectors have
named him but he is not eligible as yet for selection. If he is cleared than the selectors can also include him in the main touring squad."
The 29-year-old cricketer made his international debut in 1999 and since then he has played 192 One Day Internationals, 32 Test matches and as many T20 Internationals for his country.
On the condition of anonimity, a senior official of PCB claimed that Malik is going to get the clearance from the Integrity Committee and he will be made the vice-captain of the team immediately.
"Don't be surprised if Malik is immediately included into the touring squad and named vice-captain to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 for the tour," the source claimed.
