Shoaib Malik, the former Pakistani skipper, has expressed that he is playing club cricket to regain his lost form and said that he is geared up to make a comeback in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 team.
The all-rounder has been out of the national side since the limited-overs series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions, to a title victory in the Faysal Bank Super 8 T20 Tournament 2011-12.
Apart from the leadership skills, Malik performed well with the bat and has once again caught the eyes of the selection committee and the Pakistan team management.
Malik is currently in Lahore, where he is playing club cricket, despite the high temperatures, to make sure that he is ready and in form, if he gets selected for the upcoming tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
Former Pakistan captain expressed that there is no domestic cricket being played in the country at the moment because of the off-season. This is the reason why he has no choice but to play club cricket in Lahore, in order to remain in form.
Since getting a new life in international cricket last year, Malik has failed to make an impression with the bat. Over the years, Malik has been an integral part of Pakistan’s limited-overs setup and the Sialkot born cricketer is once again geared up to
cement his place in the national team.
"The domestic season has ended but I am focusing a lot on club matches and taking them very seriously. I am also looking forward to this Sri Lanka tour as it will allow me to prove myself in every format of the game," he said.
Pakistan’s tour of Sri Lanka is going to commence from the first of June with the first T20 fixture of the two-match series.
He also wants Sialkot Stallions to take part in this year’s Champions League T20. Malik feels that it is highly unfair with the country’s cricket that no Pakistani team is invited to play the tournament, which is supposed to gauge the best domestic teams
from all across the globe.
Shoaib expressed, "I hope the Sialkot team can play in the Champions League. It would be great for Pakistan cricket."
