Shoaib Malik sure to make a comeback
Shoaib Malik, the former skipper of Pakistan cricket team, after being ignored for the preliminary squad of thirty players which has been announced by the PCB, has claimed that his cricketing career is not over yet, and he will soon make a comeback.
Looking disappointed over the selectors’ decision, the inspiring all-rounder said, “It is hugely disappointing not to be selected in the World Cup squad and what is more strange is that neither the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) nor the national selectors
have given any reason for ignoring me.”
While the selectors completely ignored the experienced player for the mega event, PCB too could not provide a solid reason for doing so and simply said that he was not cleared for the selection.
Having quite contrary expectations to what had happened, Malik, who has been giving excellent performance in domestic cricket, was mentally prepared to make a place in the national team for world cup event. Perhaps that is the reason that he is still oblivious
of the reason which caused him to miss the selection.
“Missing the world cup is a big setback for me but my career is certainly not over and I can still continue to play for another five to six years, so I know that I can make a comeback,” said Malik.
While no other source could disclose why the all-rounder failed to impress the selectors, a newspaper in Pakistan claimed that he was not picked up because he could not explain the presence of 90,000 pounds in his bank account in UK in a justifiable manner
before the integrity committee.
The report revealed that Malik could not give a reply to from where the money had come from and how was it there in his account. For the PCB, this proved to be enough for holding his clearance for the World Cup cricket 2011.
Amid the corruption allegations on a number of players, PCB integrity committee had demanded personal asset details from Malik, Kamran Akmal, Rana Naved and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Danish-Kaneria-c1314. After coming up with satisfactory explanations, the wicketkeeper batsman Kamran Akmal
and the fast bowler Rana Naved got clearance from the authorities, however, Kaneria and Malik have still not been declared as clean by those at the helm of the affairs.
Malik, who had the privilege of leading http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket team between 2007 to 2009, stated that for him, it was not an issue to play under the captaincy of any other player of the team. He also said that he would continue playing domestic cricket and would
wait for the right time to make a comeback.
