Former Pakistan captain, Shoaib Malik, is very disappointed with his recent performances in international cricket but feels that he has regained his form and is now ready to make amends.
Malik emerged into the scene of international cricket in 1999 when he started his career for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 as an off-spinner. However, he started to focus more on his batting afterwards and became an integral part of Pakistan’s limited-overs squad.
He remained a consistent performer for the Green Shirts for a number of years and as a result, he was appointed as the captain of the national team after the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2007, only to be replaced after a year and a half.
The all-rounder from Sialkot made a comeback to the national team last year but so far he has failed to deliver the goods for the country. However, recently, he has been doing well in domestic cricket with both bat and ball.
While talking to Pakpassion, the former Pakistan captain expressed that form is temporary but class is permanent. He feels that every international player goes through lean patches and this is a part and parcel of any sportsman’s life. The all-rounder is
still confident about his abilities and is keen to catch the eyes of the selectors once again.
Malik said, “In professional sport, you have good days and you have bad days. I’ve gone through a lean spell of late but I remain positive and I have faith in my ability and I believe in myself. It hurts me to see that I have not performed so well off-late,
but you have to learn from your mistakes.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions have reached the finals of the Faysal Bank Super 8 T20 Tournament 2012 under the captaincy of Malik and the all-rounder believes that this is the result of team effort that the Stallions have been doing so well since so many years.
“I’m very pleased with the way the Sialkot team is playing at the moment. In tournaments such as the Super 8s there is no margin for error and you make one mistake and you can be out of the tournament. You have to go into every match with a must win mentality,”
Shoaib added.
