Shoaib Mohammad slams Pakistan’s performance in the Galle Test – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Mohammad-c90091, the former Test cricketer, has slammed the Pakistan team for their poor performance in the Galle Test but feels that the Green Shirts’ morale dipped after their loss in the 50-overs format.
The visitors started the tour as favourites because of their recent performances in international cricket and especially against Sri Lanka, whom they defeated last year in all formats in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033.
After levelling the T20 series and winning the first One Day International, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 looked on course to carry on with their dominance over the home team. However, Misbah ul Haq and company lost the last two matches in a dramatic manner to let the series
slip from their grasp.
The former opening batsman, while talking to Pakpassion, expressed that the Pakistani men failed to come out of the horrors of the ODI series, which led to their downfall in the first of the three-match Test series at Galle.
Shoaib, who belongs to the historic ‘Mohammad family’ of Pakistan cricket, thinks that the home team had the advantage of winning the toss and batting first, which is always a key in the Island, where the ball starts to spin very early in the match.
“I believe that the result of the one-day series hurt the morale of the team and certainly was a factor in losing the first Test match. However, the loss of the toss is also important factor at times and the Sri Lankans racking up big score in the first
innings put pressure on Pakistan,” Shoaib said.
The former opening batsman however, is of the opinion that the Green Shirts cannot justify their lacklustre performance because getting out for only 100 in the first innings was absolutely ridiculous, especially because the home team does not possess a great
bowling line-up.
He expressed, “The wicket and all other circumstances were the same for both teams and they weren't facing the world's best bowling attack either. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 captialised on their scoreboard advantage and exerted further pressure on Pakistan by extending their
lead.”
The second match of the series will commence tomorrow at Colombo and Pakistan have a good chance to restore their confidence.
