Question:

Shoe Polish On Car Window?

by  |  earlier

I'm selling my car and would like to paint on the windows to make it more noticeable. I would like to use something cheap and I've heard that white shoe polish works pretty good. My question is how long should I keep the paint on before washing and repainting? And does shoe polish come off easily or do I need something special soap? Also, is buying the Window Chalk Marker really worth it or can I just stick with the shoe polish? Well, thanks.

  1. Shoe polish works but can be hard to get off after a while. Soap and water or Windex and a lot of rubbing.

I drag race and Dan W is correct, however I now use a product called "Dial-In". It's soooo much easier to remove. All you need is a dry cloth. A little water if it's been on there about a week.

It's made by Geddex. part #916. There phone # is 740-425-1000. Sorry, no website on the bottle.

If there's a "speed shop" in your town they should have it. It's about $7 a bottle and is the same size as a shoe polish bottle and apply's the same.

Shoe polish would hold up better in rain. 'Dial-In' would rinse right off.

    Hope this helps

  3. To save a few pennies? Get real.

  4. Drag racers have used Liquid white shoe polish for years, replace it after it fades or before the buyer takes it home.

  5. Use a BINGO dabber. It washes off with water. You can buy them at any Dollar Store.
