Newcastle United’s veteran striker Shola Ameobi is anxiously awaiting the start of the new Premier League season.

The striker reportedly informed Alan Pardew last night that he wished to be included in the team that faces Tottenham Hotspur on the opening day of the new Premier League season. With just a week to go till Newcastle begin their campaign; the striker is
confident that he will be able to lead the line against Spurs.
Ameobi has been with the club since he was a boy and is regarded as a local hero and fan favourite at Tyneside. The player scored in Newcastle’s pre-season friendly against Hartlepool earlier this week as the Magpies thrashed the opposition in an impressive
5-1 victory. Ameobi also assisted two goals in the game, and gave Pardew some food for thought has he looks to make his claim for a first team spot.
