Shon Wan Ho defeats Parupalli Kashyap in Men’s Singles first round of 2011 French Open Super Series
Korea’s Shon Wan Ho have made his mark over India’s Parupalli Kashyap in the Men’s Singles first round of the 2011 French Open Super Series, at Paris, France, on Wednesday, October 26.
Wan Ho, who is currently ranked at number 25 in the Men’s Singles world rankings, played to his full potential and won the match in three sets against Kashyap, who is World Number 22 at the moment. The Indian failed to play well in the third game and lost
the match after 56 minutes.
The Korean played positive game in the opening set of the match and won it with a decent score. However, he failed to maintain his flow in the second set against the Indian, who won it with a good margin and levelled the match. In the final game, Wan Ho
played fabulous game and won the set with a completely one-sided score.
In the opening rallies of the first set, both players showed their superb skills as they employed variations in their strokes. Both were playing at the same level in the starting points as they remained focused.
Meanwhile, Wan Ho accelerated his speed and started to dictate the pace of the rallies. Kashyap committed a few unforced errors which assisted his Korean rival to take the first game with a 21-18 score on the board.
In the second set of the match, Kashyap played fast game in the opening rallies. His aggressive approach helped him to take a small lead in the opening half of the second game.
After the break, the Korean tried to level the score but failed as Kashyap was quicker in taking the bird early from all areas of the court. Wan Ho lost this set with a four-point difference of 17-21.
The final game was surprising for the Indian when Wan Ho played on a different level. He spared no chance for Kashyap to even put up strong resistance. The Korean remained ahead of the Indian in the whole game by playing attacking and positive badminton.
The aggressive play of Wan Ho earned him victory in the final set with a wonderful difference of 21-9. The ending score of this three-set battle was 21-18, 17-21 and 21-9.
