Shontayne Hape hints at Kyle Eastmond’s inclusion in rugby union
Shontayne Hape the England’s centre believes that Kyle Eastmond, the St Helen’s scrum half will be a major success in Rugby Union matches if he chooses to make a move from the rugby league.
The 21-year-old centre has not yet decided that either he will be making a move or not. Eastmond was the one who backed Chris Ashton for the dual nationality issue. He himself is an ex New Zealand Rugby League player.
Hape has met Eastmond on his recent visit to Recreation Ground. Eastmond is on the target list for Bath and on his meeting with Hape, he was told that not every exchange has been as incompetent sensation.
Hape said, “Kyle has got everything going for him. There is no reason he can't be a great success. Everyone compares him with Jason Robinson because he is a similar type of player. Who knows, this time next year Kyle could be the one sitting here being interviewed
in the England camp.”
Sale Sharks have also shown their interest in getting their hand son Eastmond and if he opts to transfer to Bath then he will have to cut his North West knots. Hape’s himself is doubtful as his contract will be expiring this summer and might be joining London
Irish or The Rec.
The club that picked Hape’s from rugby league and brought him to rugby union is the right destination for Eastmond. Hape’s was called upon from Bradfoord Bulls to Bath. Hape’s said, “Bath have a good track record of guys coming down. Jason Robinson was there
and Kyle is a great talent.”
He added, “Spoke to him when he came down to Bath, I said it wouldn't be effortless and the most significant thing is you have to establish all over again. You can't come across and think you are something unique. You have to start from the foundation and
work his way up.”
Hape’s added some fruitful advice and told the youngster to stay humble and down to earth as few big heads might be saying ‘who does he think he is?’, ‘who is this guy?’
