Shoot 'em up movie question?

why does the character mr smith played by clive owen always eat a carrot, in every scene u see him in, he's eating a carrot, why is that?

total guess but maybe something to do with carrots are supposed to be good for your eyesight and he is a marksman. Keeps hs eyes in great shape for aiming his gun.

so he can make constant bugs bunny Elmer Fudd references.  Also remind us all that no matter how stupid we think the film is, him eating the character is reminding us that it is suppose to be stupid and to relax.

So he can kill people with them. That and they're Delicious. Other wise no real reason.
