OK, so im trying to reverse right? except im so stressed out that i dont even turn the car on completly, and i continue to release the brakes and the car is going down the driveway, and im noticing i have no control of the car..and as it goes further down it hits a car the was parked in front of my house. i finally realize the car wasnt completely turned on, and i drive it back in the driveway, and park it. then i go outside and i notice that i hit the car!! it was very minor in my opinion, just a small dent on the bumper. and a small dent on my door. i didnt know who the car belonged to, and i figured that if they noticed the dent, they would just come to my house, ring the doorbell, and ask about it or whatnot. but an hour later, i look outside, thinking maybe i could leave info or something, but the car is gone! they left...so im guessing they didnt notice the dent.

but i will take complete responsiblity for it, if the person comes around, or files a claim, watever.

im freaking out, i dont know what to do. the car is gone.....and..idk..

they usually park in the place often, so if i run into the person, i'll definently tell them.

or should i just forget about it, and act like it didnt happen??

i know this is long. but i need advice....im worrying about it.

Oh and i was driving my mom's car. with permission. and i told her about it. (i have my license by the way, although clearly im a horrible driver) ...i dont want her to lose trust in me, because i made a little mistake.......... there was NO serious damage to either car.....

HELP..

oh and PLEASE dont be mean about this....

  1. Legally, you are required to leave a note on the unattended vehicle you struck. However, since you didn't and they didn't notice it and drove off, you are most likely in the clear.

  2. I think you have nothing to worry about. If the dent was that minor, they will probably think it happened at the grocery store or something. When you lose control of the car like that, don't be afraid to step on the brakes or use the emergency brakes. I think your mom will still trust you because you were up front and honest about what happened. Chill out, nothing bad will happen.
