Shooting on public land.?

I know you can and there are a few rules. what are the initals for public land you can shoot guns on?

  1. depends on your state.  Ask your state police or county cops.  possibly your version of fish and game dept.  Either way, make sure of whats BEHIND your target by at least a mile.  And please practice good gun safety so the rest of us shooters dont have to pay for it.


  2. Here we usually shoot on the old logging roads. When they are making the roads they will push the overburden well off the road and in the process they will make a nice strait shooting lane and a pile of dirt you can use as a back stop.

    If you take targets with you make sure to clean them up. More and more of the back woods shooting areas are being gated off due to people leaving trash they used as targets.

  3. The rules vary by state. Check with your local state's Department of Parks and Wildlife or something similar. In Texas, you can buy a public lands hunting permit that allows you to hunt on hundreds of locations for $48. I'm sure other states have something similar.
