Every once in a while I awake in the middle of the night to a horrible shooting pain in the way back of my tongue. I don't think i'm biting my tongue because it doesn't seem my teeth can reach that far back. It kind of feels like it's on the inside of my tongue. It only hurts for about 5 minutes

  1. maybe your grinding your teeth, TMJ? ...allergies?...or sleep apnea?   The muscles in the face and neck affect the tongue.   Then again, I had allergies years ago, they affected my ears, that in turn gave me a weird pain in my tongue way in the back...no doctor could find anything, but it eventually went away.  I took alot of vitamin C.

  2. Oh. Sounds like you have a problem.
