I haven't looked at your link, but am GUESSING it has to do with China paying $3 Billion to work Iraqi oil... yeppers.

Amazing how the "whiners" scream "it's all about the oil MAN !!" when we get less that 1% of our oil from Iraq.  As to the whining respondent who asked about the money "Mr & Mrs Average Iraqi" will see... that oil is the major source of revenue for Iraq, so they WILL see it in improved infrastructure (roads, power, hospitals) and security.

I don't see how. The USA now controls Iraq's oilfields and has leased rights to them part time to the Chinese for $1.2billion. I wonder how much of that revenue will be seen by Mr & Mrs Average Iraqi? And if the whole Iraq invasion was to "liberate", why has Halliburton been working on six new permanent military bases there?

Edit to mariner31; I'm assuming you are a marine, partly because of your name, and partly because of the empty headedness of your reply. I seem to remember there wasn't a great deal wrong with Iraq's infrastructure prior to the USA's occupation...apart from what damage the sanctions had done of course. And before you set off on some rant about you being there and me not knowing what I'm talking about, I worked in Iraq in 2000 as a construction engineer.

Perhaps you also consider the $350m that Karzai has been allocated to rebuild Afghanistan to be a fair amount too? (Hint, $350m will build about 100km of road)

I don't know how "baseless" the claims are when both Bush and McCain stated at the onset that the entire cost of the war would be paid for with Iraqi oil.  If they weren't planning to steal it after conquering the country how did they propose to get it?
