Shop Ceiling Insulation?

I Have a 1000 Sq. Ft. Shop with 18ft. high ceiling. The ceiling is 5/8-1 in. plywood with what ever cheap roofing material on top exterior. Interior is just bare plywood. The Sun facing wall and rear wall is filled cinder block wall with 2 drywall walls seperateing shops on the other 2 sides. When its hot its super Hot in shop and vice versa in winter.

Would it be beneficial for comfort to add some kind of insulation on the ceiling? I was looking at a thermal ceramic paint but not sure if it can be sparyed on and i have yet to hear a response form the company?

How about metal sheathing stapled to the plywood ceiling?

Or is it easier to roll a layer of some type of exterior insulation on the roof and i can basically just cover my section of space?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Hi rg,

How 'bout some of this http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stor...

Fastened with some of these http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stor...  A little construction adhesive behind it might help.

  2. Sprayed Polyurethane Foam would be the easiest way to do it. It cost a little more but seals excellent and your dont have to cut and fit every piece since there are none. If you look around you can find different brands. I would recommend just having a professional install it so you dont have to pay for any equipment. Depending on the are you may be able to rent the equipment. I have attached just one available brand. I have seen cheaper so if you contemplate this type of insulation shop around a little and save. I will seem expensive but think about how much time and hastle you will save. Time is money.
