ShopRite LPGA Classic: Paula Creamer slips to 8th in the final round
American Paula Creamer was happy with the way she kicked off the opening round of the ShopRite LPGA Classic 2012, but she lost momentum in the final round, finishing tied at 8th on the leaderboard.
Creamer was among the hot favourites for the coveted title, despite not showing a good performance in recent events. However, the American star played a sensible game and finished inside the top 10.
Creamer got off to a stunning start, as she parred the first two holes and made a birdie on the 3rd. She amazed the spectators again when she reeled off two back-to-back birdies on the par-4 5th
and the par-4 6th hole.
Despite the fearsome field, the 25-year-old star put up a tough fight and did not allow her rivals trouble her.
The field featured LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars such as the current world number one, Yani Tseng, Lexi Tompson, Stacy Lewis, Katherine Hull, Ai Miyazato, Azahara Munoz, Laura Davies, Suzann
Pettersen, Amy Yang and Karrie Webb among others.
Creamer was standing tied for the third position at the end of the opening and second round, but tumbled to 8th at the end of the last round.
Analysts said that if the American prodigy had played a little more sensible game in the last two rounds, she would have consolidated her position on the leaderboard.
The LPGA giant has been seeking to record a pro victory since July 2010, when she won her first major title, US Women’s Open.
Speaking to the media at the end of the ShopRite LPGA Classic, Creamer said that she stared the match in an impressive style, but faltering in the final round took a toll on her overall position.

She said that the course was good, as it helped her make calculated putts on most of the holes, in the first two rounds.
“Well, I started off with a bogey on the first hole, which wasn't ideal, but made birdie on 3 and 4 and tried to give myself as many opportunities as I could, and I the bogey on 9 was kind of unfortunate, but
got it back on 10,” the golfing sensation said.
“I had to back-to-back bogeys on 13 and 14.  Those were easy chips, yes and no, but I should never really have been in the positions that I was at.  But overall I feel pretty solid with where I'm going.  So
we'll see”.
