ShopRite LPGA Classic to be held from May 28 to June 3 at Bay Course Seaview Resort
The ShopRite LPGA Classic is going to be played at the Bay Course Seaview Resort from May 28 to June 3, with a strong field including the defending champion Brittany Lincicome.
The tournament is expected to stage a tough battle among key LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars, analysts said.
According to the officials, the tournament is offering a hefty purse worth $1.5 million. Out of the total purse, the winner will receive $225,000.
According to the details, most of the players have confirmed their commitment to participate in the match. The field will feature 144 players — something, analysts have said, will bring more interest and competiveness.
Officials of the event said that the tournament is expected to gain massive media coverage, due largely to being associated with the LPGA. They said that the Golf Channel also will be covering the match from the first round.
The ShopRite LPGA Classic is paying special attention to charities this year, as it has been decided that all the advance ticket sales will go to donations.
The tournament officials said that they have been in touch with several charity organisations, which speaks of the tournament’s commitment to the sport and social activities.
Sources said that the ShopRite LPGA Classic is cooperating with eighteen charity partners that also include Community FoodBank of New Jersey - Southern Branch, Richard Stockton College of New Jersey Foundation, and AtlantiCare Foundation.
Since the tournament’s arrangement needs massive workforce, the officials are seeking to hire volunteers to cater to large audience and the rich field of 144 players.
Sources told that this year’s event will exceed the number of spectators present last year.
The players confirmed for the tournament include the defending champion Brittany Lincicome. Lincicome is expected to meet tough resistance on the course, making the title much more challenging.
Analysts said that the tournament is very important for Lincicome, as this is where she ended her 2-year winning drought last season.
She displayed a stunning performance and carded two bogey-free rounds, helping her keep the pressure on her nearest rivals.
Lincicome said that she was thrilled to record a victory on the LPGA Tour after a gap of two years.
"It's like you said, since '09. You don't know if you're ever going to win again or if you'll ever have your time. So it feels fantastic," she said.
