i was caught the other day for shoplifting at walmart. I did not get out of the door with anything...i just got past the dingers though....but i wasnt actually gunna even take the stuff so i chickened out before i got to the main door. When i turned around the security guard was there and took me back to the room...the cop came and they filed a report. They gave me a court date and i went to it, but they told me to leave because i was a juvenile and i was at the wrong court. So now they are going to mail me my courtdate. What should i do? I have never been to court or been in trouble like this. Can they actually charge me for shoplifting when i wasnt even completly out of the store? What could be my punishments. What should I plea???

please help.

  1. Saying they can't charge you for shoplifting just because you didn't actually making it out is the same as saying it's not a crime if you stab someone, just because it didn't actually kill him.

  2. guilty, as then you pay a fine and get to leave if you plead not guilty then you have to come again

  3. It doesn't matter whether you were out the door or not, the fact that you made it to the detectors indicates intent to shoplift, which is sufficient.  If you had sequestered articles in your pockets or clothing, they could have stopped you anywhere in the store as a shoplifter.

  4. I THINK YOU SHOULD TAKE THE PUNISHMENT BECAUSE YOU ALMOST STOLE AND IT'S AGAINST THE LAW AND A SIN SO OH WELL DEAL WITH IT AND NEXT TIME YOU TRY TO STEAL SOMETHING DO IT SOMEWHERE WHERE THEY DON'T HAVE CAMERAS. JUST KIDDING!!!!!! and sorry it was on caps i didn't realise and don't feel like rewriting it.

  5. yes they will charge you it doesn't matter if you were out or not they have more proof that you were going to steal it than you have proof that you weren't you should plead guilty ( you'll get a lesser sentence ) or first time offender and if they ask you any questions that you don't want to answer that will be bad for your case plead the fifth you don't have to incrimanate yourself you can also pelad nolow insead of guilty of first time offender but i wouldn't advise it and you will more than likely get a fine and do some community service and i advise next time you steal something from walmart that you run instead of just giving up

  6. Either way, you still attempted to do it. You "chickened out" but you had already done it. You did the crime, do the time. Plead guilty.

  7. HAHHAHHAHHAHAH

    dont get caught

    its as simple as that

    :]

plea guilty so they dont get all pissy

you will prolly just get community service

  8. If they are taking you to court, they're charging you with shoplifting.  All you're going to have to do is community service.  They'll give you a certain number of hours to clean up parks or work at a food pantry or somehting like that.

  9. If this is your first crime then you will probably get community service and get banned from Walmart.  Yes Walmart will actually keep your picture next to their monitors and watch for you.

  10. tell them the truth!! tell them you chickened!!!! if it doesnt get you out of anything it should lessen whatever you get... witch is probably just a fine...

  11. Stealing is wrong. You will be fined most likely. Also, you should'nt of of even thought about it. What you should do is go to court and explain what you did. What was going through your mind? What ever it was tell the judge.

    Hope This Helped

  12. Say that at the time you weren't thinking straight, and that you accept the consequences but hope they wont be too severe.  act innocent

  13. i would just plead guilty of intent to steal, because you are a juvenile youl get off pretty easy, comunity service sounds about right, you can uasualy volunteer cleaning a school or your local animal shelter, but if you argue in court you could get slammed with a fine.  youll see as you grow up that you cant do anything without a harsh punishment.

  14. You go to court and plead guilty of intent, with extenuating circumstances:  that you were already turning back into the store to leave the items behind.  Throw yourself on the mercy of the court and you may be lucky enough to get a continuance:  that is, if you keep your nose clean for a year, the charges will be erased and you won't have a record.  Get a lawyer, have him/her ask for a continuance of the sentencing and for community service.

  15.

Casey, I think you should get an attaorney becasue you will be charged with a misdeameanor crime.  My son was, and that let him to think that his record was already blemished so he might as well go back to a different store and steal something.  Believe me, you dont want to ruin your life like that.  that goes on your record and a misdeamenor record will affect your chances of getting a job for 7 years if not longer.  teenagers are also charged with crimes like these, my son was 17 and now he is 20 and cant find a ompany that will hire him, he has to get jobs in construction or cleaning toilets even thou he is a bright young man, that has let him to depression and more more.

there is an attorney I had to hire and he will work with you on payments his name is Ralph Martinez 713-645-7894

  16. Plea guilty. You didn't shoplift, but since your intention was shop lifting, you should face the consequences. That will keep you from doing it next time.
