Question:

Shopping Malls?

we have a new shopping mall in our town , built just over a year ago. The shops that were in the town centre are repeated in this new mall. The effect has turned the town into a cheap looking dump because nearly all the shops that have opened in the mall have closed down in the town and are either standing empty or temporarely taken over by cheap clothes shops, pound shops and coffee drinking places. I had hoped we would get some new blood in the mall. I know of another large out of town shopping mall and again their town centre isnt worth bothering with. Do you care what your town looks like?

  1. My town is getting an overhaul and so far is looking great. Some shops have closed down and are getting demolished but when it's finished it;ll look brilliant.

There are new shops springing up and we're getting a big named department store and another cinema. so in all I'm not complaining.

  2. goto freeUsa.co.nr and see all best shopping sites (recomended)

  3. Yes, I do care what my town looks like, but there's no much that I can do about it.

Problem is that it is happening all over, although it does leave local smaller shops available to new business ventures.

  4. What would happen to the monkeys without evolution. Towns should recreate. It is not possible try to keep same rules, policies within such dynamic world.

I'll say not say to not fight or do not change, but find alternative way, like Darwin suggested.

There is no point to stuck in 60's Style.

  5. One word.  Leatherhead.  If you're from Surrey, UK, you'll know what I mean.

  6. An old complaint and one which the government has tried, without too much success, to correct by regulating out of town hypermarkets. Local councils don't help the small shopkeeper enough, either. It's not going to go back to 1950's.
