Question:

Shopping in Spain?

I'm taking a holiday in Estartit Costa Brava Spain next August. I'd love to find any local wool/yarn/knitting shops in that area,if there are any! Is my best chance asking the locals,or is there a listing somewhere obscure?

  2. Hello-

Well I can't help you specifically.  I'm on the Costa Blanca right now.

What I can tell you is that here there are many of them, but they are usually small.  It's best to ask the locals for one, they'll know which ones are best.

Many towns now have listings on the internet that list a lot of the businesses in their area.  The problem is that usually only the bigger places, those that advertise, are listed so I doubt that would include most of these types of shops.

Don't expect to find as much as you would in a shop in the US or UK, though.  At least around here, these shops are very small and include all things to do with sewing, knitting and other related things.

You may also find more of these things at the local flea market.  Ours has 3 stands with yarn, etc. for cheaper rates than the stores in town.

You could try the yellow pages online www.paginas-amarillas.es, but I still think the best way is to ask the locals.
