Shops near Shannon Airport, Eire?

Question

I'm flying to Shannon Airport, Eire in a couple of months and will be staying self-catering and wondered if there are any supermarkets near the airport in order to stock up with provisions?

The town of Shannon is pretty new. It does not have the old town centers like you will find in most cities in Ireland, however you should be able to find a grocery store nearby. They have a shopping mall in Shannon but don't expect to find souvineers there. If you are looking for souvineers go to Bunratty down the road or the duty free shops at the airport.

As to finding the supermarket, just ask a local. People are friendly and they will help you. If you are staying at B&B's on your trip, I would reccommend a place that we stayed at. Tara Green in Shannon was the best place we stayed at during our entire trip. A polish lady named Wiestawa O'Brien and her Irish husband Tom run the B&B. The room we stayed in was the only one without a TV or a coffee/tea maker but they were such great hosts it wasn't an issue. The O'Brien's invited us to have tea with them and talked with us for a while then convinced us to visit the pub down the road. It was the absolute best stay of our trip and you should definitely call about staying with them.

I'm not too familiar with this area.  However, you won't be staying in the airport.  What is the name of village or town you will be staying in.  Even the smallest of villages have little shops, medium villages have small supermarkets and also butchers where you can get fresh meat.  If you want a really big supermarket with e.g. gourmet foods, you would have to go to a city or suburb or a city.

i'm from just outside shannon, there is a shopping centre, Shannon town centre where there are two big supermarkets, Dunnes Stores and Tesco, you should be able to get anything you need there.  There is also a few smaller shops in the area too.  Hope this helps
