I was just wondering if any one has ever studied "Shorinji Ryu Jujitsu" via DVD's and is Ken Penland a good Shorinji Ryu Jujitsu Sensei?

Please be detailed on your answer ... thank you.

  1. No I haven't seen them.

I thought you were through with everybody on this sight, the way you wer trashing all of us.

Edit- Hey I am not going to hold it against you. Everybody has bad days, and like you say at least you are man enough to appolagize. Far as I'm concerned it's water under the bridge.

  2. As far as I can tell from some research Ken Penland is the originator of the style.  It's a modern American combat style with HQ in California that's registered with the American Ju-Jitsu association.  Looks like it's been around since 1972, but I can't verify.

Since Penland is the originator, I guess he is the best source.  I don't know anything about the style though.

  3. Shorinji Ryu, which means "Shaolin Temple Style", is an Okinawan art that comes from Chotoku Kyan, a great historical figure in Okinawan martial arts. And we know the deal with Jujutsu.

So I guess he created a school where both arts are taught in one curriculum.

I can't say anything about his skill because I have never seen him. Have you tried google video/youtube to see if there is anything on him there?

I will check as my curiosity has been peeked.
