1. Yeah around 3-4" taller than you, you are fairly small so a nice small board will be perfect for you; this will enable you to make really maneuverable turns, you want to start out with the fundamental surfing trick, the bottom turn, then move onto floaters, re-entrys, cutbacks, all that surfing jazz! Have Fun!!

  2. If you are already surfing, don't waste your time asking this question on line. Go to a good local surf shop (a real surf shop, not a bathing suit store that sell surfboards) and talk to the folks there. They will know the local breaks and help you match your body size, skill level and local waves. Based on what you say, you can go radically short and still be okay, so talk to the shop folks. (PS We could all be from Nebraska - don't listen to us, go to a surf shop).

  3. Rule of thumb... A shortboard should be no bigger than 3-5 inches taller than you for head high and under surf. If you want to do tricks, I would recommend a board 3 inches taller than you for it will be fast and easy to manuever, if you have the right board. If you have been surfing for 4-5 years, here is what I would start out with you you aren't already:

    360

    air

    reverse 360

once you have those down then you can try air 180 and so on. Also, if you are in a big enough barrel, you can try to do a 360 inside of it... very fun!

Good luck and have fun, I love women who surf!

  4. Probably a 6'0'' to a 6'4'' those are the boards that are most easily maneuverable for a lot of tricks and they give a good smooth ride

  6. I would recomend a board around 6'. But probably no bigger than 6'1. If you dont have problems paddling i would recomend 5'11x19x2 3/8 thick. Basic tricks are cutbacks, snaps and floaters. Look up the terms to get an idea of what they are.
