Does anyone else think the short wavelength end of the visible spectrum looks blue and not violet like many people say it is?

  1. Depends on the acuity of your eyes and your interpretation of colors.   My dad once asked in a store for the blue lights with the little red tips and the clerk thought he was nuts.  A quick survey of passing customers determined that about half the people saw the blue lights with little red tips and half did not.

  2. Yes, it is not only about what your acuity is, but also the language in which you think.

Certain colors are more perceptible, if one has a linguistic, as well as perceptive, discernment for them.

(similar to semi and demi tones in music that can be perceived/discerned more easily when one has more experience with them)

    Hope this makes sense.

So there is a filtering that goes on at the perceptual and/or linguistic level.
