Shortest flight from Europe to the East Coast of Canada?

I am absolutely terrified of flying and I'm trying to find a way to get to Canada without flying for too long. Taking a ship isn't really another solution because I get seasick.

So, what's the shortest flight from ANY destination in europe to Halifax i.e.?

Shannon, Ireland is the closest major European airport to Canada.

Look into IcelandAir, if you think 2 short flights would be better than 1 long one.  You could do, for instance, Glasgow to Iceland to Halifax.

Well, officially the shortest flight would be Reykjavik to Halifax (not Glasgow) since Iceland is considered part of Europe in terms of continental fragments.

But I suspect that is not what you mean. I doubt Ireland would help much either. Any major airport in the UK is connected with the European rail network so you need to get to some part of the UK by land and then take it from there.

From London you're looking at 6hr 35min to Halifax and 6hr back. From Glasgow it's 5hr 55min there and 5hr 20 back. To be honest, for the sake of 40 minutes flying time and a 6 hour train ride to get to Glasgow from London, you'd be better off going from London.

I'm not so sure about breaking the flight into two either, since that elongates the TOTAL flight time - and it's the flying you're not happy with, plus there's the extra stress of another landing and take-off.

See if you can get on a "scared of flying course". Ask your doctor if he can help. Good luck - it's not that bad.

Hello,

You can fly from Munich to Toronto and from Toronto you could drive to Halifax. You can use travelocity.ca for a good price or http://www.traveltst.ca/ . I will do this in coupld of weeks. I am not too fond of flying but you will be fine !!
