Hi, I need to know at which point I should leave the M6 or M5 and head cross country to get to Cardiff. Is it faster continuing down the M5 to the Severn bridge or is there a shorter route. Thanks.

  1. Hi,South from Glasgow M74. Carlisle...

    M6 south Manchester......M6 South Birmingham........

    M5 South till  J8

    M50 Ross on wye.

    A40 Monmouth.

    A449 .

    M4 West  Cardiff.

It should  faster if you dont get held up, on the other hand, if you go down the M5 to the Severn bridge, you could get held up that way, so i say try my way. ok.

    Happy travels.have a safe trip.

  3. easiest way would be a train

  4. No i wouldn't, as you have to pay to go into Wales!!

I would always use the M50 to Ross then the A40 and the A449, its a nice scenic route too and cuts the corner off a little - usually quite quiet too just be careful if there's anything on at the stadium or its bank hols cos can be quite busy!
