Question:

Shotgun Cartridge Recycling?

I work for a clay pigeon shooting business. We are trying to do our bit for the environment (bearing in mind that 80% of conservation is carried out by shooters), to recycle spent cartridges. Our local recycling firm says that no-one is indterested because of explosion (which can't happen if a cartridge is outside of a barrel!). It is basically brass and plastic - can anyone help?

  1. Busy business. Would it be feasible to separate the plastic from the brass and sell the brass? Cleaning the plastic might require more energy than would be saved by recycling.

  2. Seperate the plastic from the brass.  Discard the plastic, sell the brass.

  3. Can they be reloaded and resold?  If so, there may be local shops that are interested in them.

  4. why dont you do it ?  i used to refill them years ago for our local sports shop / clay shoot

  5. refilling and reloading ain't really worth the time and money cuz you can buy shotgun shells 1000 for like 10 bucks at wal-mart  .410s shouldn't be that expensive(mind you the last time I used a .410 i wasn't the one buying the shells)

how about you make jewlery out of them
