Question:

Shotgun Question concerning Henry Atkin guns?

I've been shooting with a Henry Atkin 12 ga. side by side. It belongs to friends who have had it on their farm for years. It's part 1 of a pair of guns. How much would these guns be worth together roughly. It looks nice but nothing fancy and they know nothing about them. I know this is useless info but just a rough idea would be nice.

  1. Henry Atkin was a well known English gunmaker.  Generally, his guns are some of the higher valued English shotguns.  Guns that were made as true matched pairs were usually made to a fairly high standard, meaning they were relatively expensive when new.  I'd go to www.doublegunshop.com to the bulletin board and describe the gun, post some pics and you'll probably get a good idea of value.  Much will depend on the grade of gun and the condition.  If the gun is a sidelock, you're probably looking at a value somewhere in the $4,000 - $15,000 range for a single gun (again depending on grade and condition), and a little more than double that for a matched pair (a premium being put on the fact they were ordered from the factory as a matched pair, and are marked as such).
