Shoto Uke and the way others do them?

Ok we all have our favorite ways of doing a Shot Uke strike. I am curious if ANY one has a unique way or style they use when doing their for I note that MANY people's are different and even mine is a bit different and looks real graceful but still has a lot of impact power.

What way do you do yours?

  1. I don't really think that I perform the Shoto any different, if it's what I think it is. Is it the same as the Shuto? We have the same philosophy in my dojo that there are no blocks.

I do it the same way as you eplained it, with the downward strike. Though I prefer to have my hand chambered and strike at about a five to ten degree slope from horizontal.

During the Morote Shuto I will either take the lead had and use it as a brush or raking negative strike sliding the rear hand underneath for stabbing in the armpit or under the ribs. When I finish I like to either grab and yank or rake again with the underhand I stabbed with and using the rechambered lead hand to strike the neck, autonomic heart points, head along GB, CV or TW, or LU in the shoulder joint, or the upper arm along HT or PC meridians.

I also make the single technique a little longer and use the rear hand to strike an incoming punch on the same side and use the lead hand to do the same on the second incomming punch. From there I strike with the rear arm to the body and the lead to the neck in a negative manner and when the lead hand is chambered I finish with the inside leading strike to the neck again.

edit- interesting nobody else is responding
