I have a good idea for an adventure novel...It's about a group of teenagers, 15-16 yrs old, going on an adventure to search for hidden treasure in a hidden temple. It's set in the Amazon Rain forest.

There are two groups of teens searching for it. Group A is the "Protagonist" group...People who we can relate to well and who we like to cheer for...Group B is the "Antagonist" group...People who we love to hate and who we hope fails in the end.

The groups are made up of around 4-5 teens each. A's leader is enemies @ school/home with B's leader.

If you want to know more just let me know.

Anyways...What do you all think of it so far?

  1. I think it's good and that you should also add in some sort of ethical twist.  What is this treasure?  *Why* do they want it?  Maybe group A wants to find it so that they can use it to heal people or save something or someone... and group B wants to get to it first so that they can use it for some sort of greedy gain (monetary, financial) instead!

Maybe conflicts happen amongs the members of group A as well.  Maybe A's leader isn't the leader throughout a portion of the book, but the original leader of the group ends up losing sight of his morals somehow and your lead protagonist, who had hung out in the background of the group being shy and an underdog, decides to step up and take over for the sake of keeping their quest an ethical/noble one.

edit:  I think it is a good idea to have these tensions within group A itself, and also perhaps tensions within group B (maybe some or one of group B ends up giving in to their conscience?) because it will give you a tool to expose the roundness of your characters.

  2. Sounds interesting :)

Reminds me of 'Lord of the Flies', except perhaps a little more exotic --- I like the idea of the Amazon Rainforest and Aztecian temple :o Very fascinating, the Mayans were... if you can incorporate alot of mystery/secrets and puzzles etc., then I guarantee this will be a success!
