  1. The whole story is that they would need parental consent to see a doctor(who would then write the script) but they wouldn't need the parent to fill it.  They would be able to get that done at school.  I don't remember being able to even get an asprin at school without my mom having to fill out like 20 forms first.  But they aren't just "giving" them to kids.  But what an 11 year old needs with birth control is beyond me.  I guess the school did a survey and 1 out of 2 students are sexually active.  Sometimes you wondor where the parents are.

  2. WOW. I can't believe the school board passed that.

  3. Why would a little girl be given birth control by her school? However just because someone is given birth control does not mean the person is sexually active. I started the pill when I was in high school for cramps and and irregular period...which is why most women start.

  4. I see your point of view on the situation, and I completely understand it. But kids are growing up faster and faster these days, it's just part of our generation I guess. I'm 18 and I'm not saying it's okay to have s*x at 11 years old, by any means. But I think that if kids are going to experiment we should give them protection... It helps to prevent embarrasing middle and high school pregnancies...

  5. You are completely correct and I totally agree. What is the world coming to?

  6. im 14 and agree! By doing this, it will just cause kids to want to have s*x. It wont help.

  7. Personally I don't like it because they're not mature enough (there are adults who are not mature enough but that's a another story). However there are more and more pregnancies and schools had to make a decision. Abstinence is an option but not everybody thinks like that.

I think parents and schools should know what kids are doing.

  8. I think birth control should be only intoduced by the childs parents, and thats exactly what she is,is a child. Nobody should have the right to introduce this sort of family thing

to any child without parental consent!!!!

  9. I never heard of anything like that! this should be banned by the president himself, it's discusting and very upsetting.  it is up to the parents to decide, which should be 18 years of age for any child to have there own opinions.

  10. really?  Are schools encouaging these children to be sexually active?  I don't think so.  In our system they are told that it is entirely INAPPROPRIATE at that age.

Or are they giving them age appropriate instruction on sexuality in advance so they don't find themselves pregnant at 16?  Or so they can recognize a potential molester befroe he does them serious harm?

  11. In a way i don't think they should be given birth control but I on the other hand think they should BECAUSE there are girls at the age of 10 getting pregant and most of the parents don't know until the child is about to or have had the baby.

I wouldn't if you are not letting her date(I did not let my girls date until they were almost 18) and go out on her own (like to school functions, with friends or on a date).

    that's a big step.

I would IF she is going places with out you and dressing a litle over her age.

  12. NO! What the h**l is up with this. Girls at 11 years old are not even close to having their bodies fully matured. Are girls even horny and desire s*x at 11 years old? I sure as h**l didn't! I don't understand this era dude. Everything is s*x s*x s*x s*x. I was born in the era.

  13. Insane. think about this they're giving this stuff to 11 years old, yet if a 17 yr. old boy has s*x with a `15 yr. old he is accused of statutory rape. Umm , gee do you think there is any correlation between promoting safe s*x at `11 and the above situation?? all we can do is be available to our precious childrren and lead them in the best way we can.

  14. If the schools are doing this at least they should have input from the parents...I know the world is a faster place than it was when I was growing up but this is a bit ridiculous. Next they'll be giving out birth control in Kindergarten.

  15. I know a girl who was raped at 11 and now has an 10 year old daughter.  She had a hard time just getting through high school.  She tried to raise a baby at 11. Can you imagine that for your daughter. Is keeping a baby a decision you really think an 11 year old should have to make?  I think it should be the parent's decision, but I think you should consider-an 11 year old now days knows about s*x. Its on tv, the radio, and in books.  They will have s*x w/or w/o birth control, if thats what they want.  Best thing you can do is support your daughter and keep an open line of communication. Let her know you are ther if she has any questions or thought about having s*x.  A well educated child who trusts their parent is more likely not to have s*x. GL

  16. you do have a very good point but I doubt that little girls are being gien birth control pills from school.. it should only be with parental consent...

normally a girl under 14 won't desire any thing sexual any way.....but yeah what the h**l is happening in this world.....

  17. I think it is so wrong, 11 year old bodies aren't even made for that.  I can't believe what the world is coming to.  When I was 11 I still had a babysitter and parent supervision.

  18. Its just reality. When girls that are 10/11 are popping out babies something has to be done. Its not like when we were kids. Its a safety measure. Its something THEY KNOW, even if you dont think they do, they know. I sat in on a few 5th grade classes (9 year olds) and the things I heard were just horrifying. And once they get to middle school with older children it just gets worse. I'm sure not having s*x is still being drilled, but kids are going to do what they want to do no matter what, and they are doing it, they should be safe.

  19. I am proud to be a total left liberal in all ways.  I support the right for a woman to choose abortion (I don't like it but I believe it should be available) and I don't have any problem with s*x outside of marriage.  But I did read a CNN article about schools making birth control available for little kids and didn't like it one bit.  At first I was angry at the schools, but then realized they are doing the only thing they can do.  It has been proven over and over that access to birth control does not make kids have more s*x.  The school I read about had 14 eleven year old kids get pregnant in a 4 yr time span.  The parents were at fault, not the school.  The teachers should be worried about reading and writing and math... If the parents can't handle their children, then they should give them over to people who do know how to parent, or put them in gender exclusive boarding schools for a few years.  It is a disgrace.  And TV isn't to blame or music or any of that.  It falls right in the lap of the parents and they need to take up the responsibility.  In the meantime, the least the schools can do is try to stem the tide of unwanted babies that will just continue the cycle.  But really, education on condom use is way lacking in the US.  Girls are taking these dangerous drugs to be infertile, when a simple safe condom would do the trick 99% of the time.

  20. Is this going on? wow i didnt know.. what happened to letting the parents be the parents, afterall they are OUR children, just because some people decide not to take care and discipline some of their children doesnt mean we all act that way! What happened to morals? You are exactly right! what happened!?!

  21. yeah it is wrong. i completely agree with you and i believe birth control can mess up their development

  22. you already know how i feel about this, I just wanted to answer your first question!

  23. In reality, if a girl is gunna do it they will if you like it or not. Better to be protected than be subjected to std's and pregnancy. As well as giving the contraception, the schools should also be stressing the fact that these girls bodies are not ready for this kind of thing. It doesn't mean the schools or parents support it, it's just the next best thing because they can't stop kids from having s*x.
