Question:

Should 8 year olds recieve cholesterol drugs?

For me this is a no brainer. They are recommending giving a medication literally for years on children. This idea has never been tested. They are recommending persons recieve a medication for a period of time longer than the entire class of drugs has been on the market.

  1. The answer is an obvious big fat NO. Aside from the obvious risks and side effects, children's growing bodies need certain amounts of cholesterol in parts of their bodies (especially in their developing brain). If they take cholesterol blockers starting at age 8, that would be setting them at an even bigger disadvantage.

What ever happened to having them take gym class or go run around the neighborhood with their friends? Maybe eating a bit more soluble fiber in their diet (cereals, crackers, chips... maybe an apple)?

  2. Absolutely NOT!  Malnutrition (at best) will be the result.

In addition to being necessary for metabolizing fat soluble vitamins, it is a required ingredient for hormone production.

But of course, the pharmaceutical companies could then give the kids hormone injections and HGH.....

    It's all just so stupid.....

  3. No Way!  Children's physiology is VERY different than adults.  There is no way to tell what the long term effects of cholesterol lowering medications that are meant for adults will be on children.  (Remember the antidpressant and children Fiasco).   The drug companies only want to experiment on helpless children and gouge money from their parents.   Evil! Evil! Evil!

  4. NO absolutely NO.

Actually I do not think adults should take it either.  IT is a bad drug.  It might make the testing and the drug companies happy but the body makes cholesterol in an effort to heal the body and the anti cholesterol gets rid of not only the so called bad cholesterol (our paramedics of the vessel walls) and removes Q10 AND raises the chances of a heart attack. What it will do to children I would hate to think about even.

What a night mare for those poor kids and their parents to be sold out to the drug companies.

  5. this  question should be answered by a doctor becuz any1 could be lying and you could believe the wrong answer so 4 me plz go ask a doctor

  6. NO! I've had cholesterol since i was 7. I always went to the doctor and they always wanted to put me on medication, and i did a few times but never worked. They told me it was hereditary so i was always going to have it and i needed medication for the rest of my life. I did not take that for an answer and i went on a diet and excersied in my country mexico and i came back here still try to eat healthy and excersise and i lowered it and i feel really good no medication. I believe 8 years old is too young they are bearly growing and have time and energy to eat right and be active that is the only way..

  7. Not absolutely necessary, as the article directs.

METABOLISM of an individual is the SAME, as an exclusivity of a finger-print.

    It is very complex question.

You will have to undergo series of tests, especially, metabolism bound.

    Internal medicine.

It is known, the weight, does not equals cholesterol levels.

So, a lipid braking, ´´dissolving´´, medicine is, in acute instances, the best way to start.

But, it is essential, to get the data, as how the individual,s organism works, so, i,d suggest, as i said above, to get a COMPLETE, internal medicine test, and go from there.

  8. I saw this and I can not believe it.
