Organize a one day or week gas protest this year ex. not buy gas get a ride with a friend?

the fact gas prices are so high, are ridiculous the oil company's make trillions while we act like good sheep and keep on buy more gas. our government is well, our government, and politic are a double bladed sword, both sides dont really come up with a good oil plan for there presidential term, things will rise depending on gas, there is no way out of this without doing something, or create a renewable and safe energy source. designs have been bought up by the major oil companys though such motors so that it wont thrawt there business. our voices need to be heard...if you care about how much it cost for gas....if your angry that half your pay check goes to your tank, people are struggling...and well its not you, but soon it mite be.

so protest or not..

  1. Why? it's still cheaper than Starbucks coffee, which,by the way, is terrible.

  2. What do you propose, storming the Saudi embassy?  I'd love to protest (and take the bus to work); however, I live where no reliable public bus service exists.  Exxon/Mobil, incidentally, is a very small part of the problem.

The US government needs to immediately start coming up with alternative sources of energy--not to squelch any impulses to conserve fuel.  However, ethanol is a no-go solution because it takes much needed food from those who can least afford it.  In the meanwhile, I would bike to work except for the fact that in Central Texas it would take me half the day to get to my destination.

  3. You bet your bippy we should protest.  Americans fail to realize that we as consumers control the market.  Let's get off our butts, be prepared to sacrifice a little and show these companies our resolve.

  4. A protest will do nothing.

  5. Remember the Bush energy bill of several years ago that the democrats and a few republicans didn't vote for? If it had passed, we wouldn't be in this fix.  Reagan had an energy bill decades ago that Congress didn't pass; again it was the democrats that stopped it!

I believe, however, that oil, is twice what it should be. There is a lot of speculation in the oil market that is driving up the price right now. The gov't can't do much about it except letting the oil companies drill offshore and in other places (which of course the democrats won't allow).

This is a problem that was nurtured by democrats, so the solution is to start voting for people that are for drilling! Of course, high oil prices will sooner or later led to a depression and that will cause the price of oil to drop very low and FAST!

  6. Protest won't help much. Gas is running out. We need alternative to gas beofre it runs out.

  7. Protests are a waste of time. Drill offshore!

  8. One - everyone, everywhere is suffering from higher fuel prices. Two American speculators are driving up the prices Three this question is totally irrelevant to the Royalty section so please repost

  9. Michael, great idea..i have been talking for over two and 1/2 months about this..i am in the shipping business..p.s. looking

for investor...ha..seriously you are 1,000% right..i heard the streets of London were stopped with trucks just deciding to sit there... we should do likewise and use your suggestions above, car pool, etc....have a safe 4th.

  10. it wont do anything the govt makes to much money off of the oil industry and as to your last remark no they dont work for us they work for their lobbist that paid millions of dollars to get them into office.

  11. Gas is running out, we need to stop using so much gas and find alternative fuels.

  12. Ya know, its sorta working out for me; Chicks dont dig dudes who dont drive, and I dont, so the gas prices (4.23-27 in Oregon) are a good excuse to tell them and it works.

  13. Oh honestly, the fuss you americans make about this!  Petrol prices in the UK are still three times as much as in the USA, even with your recent rise (they used to be five times as much).  Get used to it.

  14. c

  15. well if you dont then they will not have tanjable evidence that something is actually going on and people arent happy i mean bush is not going to be at all fussed because his presidencey is just about over so what is the point

  16. You are now protisting. They kill  Americans pay get it.

  17. The governments of the World will not do anything to bring gas prices down.   This is a natural step for them to eliminate green-house gases and Global warming.     It worked to get people to quit smoking by continually raising tobacco taxes until people just couldn't afford to smoke anymore.

Once people move to other means of transportation, and/ or other fuels, the cost of gasoline will plummet, but by then noone will be buying any because we won't need it.

  18. we pay a lot because of the value of our dollar, not because of greedy oil companies. oil companies put oil up for auction, it goes to the highest bidder. a protest wont do anything,

  19. A good idea, but the wrong place to post your message!

  20. The government isn't selling gas, buddy private companies are.  You're thinking of boycotting gas companies in which case go ahead.  OPEC is the real problem, if they got annihilated gas prices would fall drastically.

  21. BOYCOTT EXXON AND MOBIL!! They are the 2 biggest gas industries. If Exxon/Mobil have no customers they will be desperate! CONTINUE BOYCOTTING UNTIL GAS PRICES ARE DOWN TO $2.50!!!!!!  THEN, people will go back to Exxon and Mobil, and ONLY Exxon and Mobil, b/c then the other gas places will be forced to bring down prices to match the competition. If price begins rising again, continue boycott. I'm only 13 so my mom pretty much drives me everywhere, so I can't help you very much right now besides the whole Exxon/Mobil thing. Good luck with that, but I'm not sure exactly how much that's going to change.

    Hope I helped =)
