Question:

Should Aramis Ramirez be talked about as a possible MVP candidate?

I know that Aramis Ramirez doesn't have the same numbers as some of the guys in MVP talks, but should this guy be mentioned as a possible MVP candidate. He's come through for this team in so many clutch situations this season with walk off home runs, game tying hits and RBI's that put his team ahead late in the game. While he may not have as stellar of stats as some MVP candidates, he has most certainly been the Cubs MVP with his timely hitting and great defense (which should also make him a Gold Glove candidate).

Your thoughts on Aramis Ramirez?

  1. I think Rammy is clutch, ( http://tinyurl.com/5evxbh ) he's been my favorite Cub for several years but I don't think he's an MVP candidate. As a matter of fact, I don't see a single MVP candidate on the whole team & i love it. This is the best Cubs team I've ever seen (i'm 38).

They are playing as a team & if Lee can't do it The Riot steps up.

Fukudome is a slump? ok DeRo is as hot as you can get

Soriano has a bad day? Ramirez has a clutch hit

Reed Johson swing at anything that comes his way? plug in Fontenot

Who cares about those individual awards when your team is playing like this - I BELIEVE

    Eamus Catuli

  2. Yes he should

  3. Yea he is a great player and def should be considered

  4. He's having a good year, but not an MVP...Albert Pujols,Ryan Braun,Chase Utley, and Ryan Howard are all having bigger years than him.

  5. I think he's MVP material. What would the Cubs record be without him? He's Mr. Clutch for the Cubs. Pujols is having another great year, but will the Cards make the playoffs?

    Go Cubbies!

  6. I love the Cubs and you have a point. For my money there is no better clutch hitter in the Bigs right now that Ramirez but with the year that Utley and others are having I dont see him getting much recognition for MVP.  I think he should win the Gold Glove.

  7. I heard last night he has 44 RBIs in the 7th inning or later. That's about as clutch as you can get in late game situations.

Although his numbers aren't quite where the other candidates are, that should be taken into consideration.

  8. No he is not an MVP candidate. There are about 20-25 better players in the NL this year, so why would he get it? And as far as defense at 3rd base, Ryan Zimmerman. I hate the Nationals but that guy is an outstanding 3rd baseman. There are better players on the Cubs that would deserve the MVP over Ramirez, let alone the whole league.

  9. All he has to do is bring up the average. If Rami can finish the season hitting lets say .299 or above then heck yea he should be an MVP candidate.

  10. He is having an amazing year and a very clutch year also but when i hear the term MVP i like to look deeper into it.

    Most Valuable Player

Was Aramis Ramirez immensely valuable to the Cubs? No.

He was a huge part of an amazing season but i believe that they would make the playoffs without him.

I think that unless you have AMAZING numbers the MVP award should go to a team that would not have made the playoffs without this player.

  11. yes he should be in the discussion. he doesn't get all the hub that everybody else does because ESPN doesn't hype him up like they do to braun, pujols and others, but he is one of the best clutch hitters in the league.
