Should Arctic Ocean belong to the world or just to five nations ?

There are 25% world gas and oil under that area. and that place were first stepped on by the Eskimo people.

  1. International law concerning territorial claims is fairly well established and there is no reason to change the law simply because you don't like the economic consequences.


  2. I don't know what your question has got to do with France but you might be interested in the following fact: Britain has just decided to exploit French oil in the Jura region. The French subsoil has always been known to contain fossil fuel (including under Paris) but the country is so built up and developed that it has never been really exploited because it would not be profitable and would ruin the landscape. However with recent high oil prices, Britain has decided it would now be profitable even if French oil accounted for only 1% of their oil consumption (or production, I forgot what the article said, I'll see if I can find it).

    So it goes to show you that even though it is on French territory, it is the UK which will exploit the oil. Don't ask me how it works...
