Definitely.    Argentine rugby has progressed by leaps and bounds over the past 40 years, since the first Pumas defeated the Junior Springboks IN South Africa in 1965.   Since then they have defeated all of the six nations countries both at home and away, and there are many Argentine players playing for teams in the U.K and in the top tier European Rugby nations.   For them to join either the Six Nations tournament, or the Southern Hemisphere tri-nations would be a logical next step.   However if they felt that they should play in a Tier 2 tournament, which would have to be set up, following the 2007 World Cup, that might be a good intermediate next step.   One would then have to consider a promotion/relegation system, whereby the winners of the Tier 2 tournament would then be 'promoted' to one of the Tier 1 tournaments for the following season, and the low team of the corresponding Tier 1 group would drop down to the Tier 2 group

I am an advocate of this, I feel the Pumas do not get enough international games to prove their worth!

I have, for many months, have supported the introduction of the The Pumas into the 6/7 nations, as most of their players play on European soil, making a Spanish arena their home base!

This would make the 6/7 nations more tense-we have just had a good one(who wins the 6N, who gets the WS)!

Come on. let the pumas in!

Well, they would have to change the name to the 7 nations. But seriously they would add a bit more excitement to the tournament.

They should play in the six nations and be based in spain. But this won't happen for at least 15 years - as the six nations board are basically "old farts" and traditionalists. There was talk a few weeks ago of them joining the tri nations as soon as next year. It is simply a case of which competition can get they're act together and include them the quickest.

They would be a welcome addition to both competitions.

Playing in the Tri-Nations would better serve Argentinian rugby than joining the 6 Nations.

They would be able to retain many of the French and English-based players by being able to offer competitive salaries and their rugby would improve much more because of regular competition with arguably the best teams in the sport, especially the All Blacks!

At the moment it looks like they are more likely to join the trii-nations, Personally I don't see how this can work as all the top Argentinain players will not be released to play by their European clubs.

What I can see happening if Argentina are permitted to enter as early as next year is the Argentinains having to compete without all their top players, over time these players would return to play in Argentina if they are allowed clubs enter the Super 14.

The alternative of entering the 6 nations seems much more viable, however the main stumbling block with this seems to me to be the all ready over crowded fixture schedule, remember if Argentiana were to join it necessitate the adding of two extra playing week-ends to the calendar.

The French and English clubs already think the tournament drags on too long and would demand that it is played over 7 consecutive weekends. The Celtic nations already think the tournament is too condensed and would absolutetly never agree to relinquishing their free weekends.

Overall while the Northern Hemisphere would seem to be the way to go fixture problems have scuppered that and it now looks like Argentina will join the Tri-nations, I think this has the potential to be a disaster, as i said before I believe the Argentinians may be forced to play weakened teams or at the very least under-prepared teams therefore there is a potential for them to get hammered in every game and finally leaving the tri-nations in a matter of years.

How i think this matter would be best dealt with if the Argentinian Rugby Union turned professional before entering the tri-nations, i.e if they could entice their best players home and enter maybe two teams in the super 14, if they played for two years in super 14 then they would have the ability to compete at Tri nations level

They should play Tri-nations and have a squad in the Super series with an American based side also, probably based in California.
