  1. They should either join the tri nations or form there own yearly competition with America and Canada. The latter would be one sided to start with but after time the other nations would raise there game and rugby as a whole would benefit.

Imagine the USA in 4 years time after playing in a competition like that every year.

  2. Not until they admit the Falklands are ours!

  3. We could play them in the Falklands? lol  I dont see why not let them play in the 6 Nations  (cant see it happening tho not yet).

  4. I think they should play in the tri-nations in the southern hemisphere to make it up to 4

  5. well I think that if they went into 6 nations the other nations in it would hate it since 1) I think they would just want European nations in it, 2) the Pumas are better than the teams in 6 nations and finally Argentina would get no home games

While Tri-Nations would make more sence (there a southern hemesphere nation and I think they may be good enough to play in it) the travel would be hard.

What I would like to see (being Canadian) is an Americas tournament where the top teams in the Americas play, sure Argentina would win easily but that would at the very least promote the game and push development within the Americas.

  6. NO! We want them, they should join the tri nations. There was a poll on TV the other night and it was something like 80% of kiwis want Argentina in the Tri Nations. It would do them (and us) a world of good, and they ARE a southern hemisphere side. Also, the pacific islands should make up a team and then we could have a five nations cup. Much better than just Aus, NZ, and SA.

  7. I dont see why, I do think they ought to play in the tri nations, make it a quad nations or something, being that they are a Southern hemisphere team.

  8. yes

    they would probably win it

other teams should be allowed to have a go too

georgia or romania have put in a good show at the world cup

perhaps they deserve a chance at the 6/7/8 nations

  9. I think that would be great! (though if they keep whipping us all each year i may change my mind!)

Seriously though it would be great for development on both sides, raises the competition bar.

  10. Maybe.  They have a lot of things to work out though.  It's not as simple as "Should we put them in?".

If they were in the 6 Nations, they would supposedly  have to play out of a base in Spain.  Thats not really ideal for them although they would probably take it.  They would need to have all their players to get release clauses put into their contracts for the duration of the tournament which would be hard since the stupid set up in Europe means each individual club needs to be negotiated with for each individual player.

The Tri-Nations isn't any better for an option since the teams already hate the travel to and from South Africa and adding an even longer journey to South America as well as the extension of 1-2 months for the length of the competition make it insanely difficult with players playing up to 10 months of the year already!

The Tri-Nations would have to go to a 1 round robin style with Australia or NZ travelling to South Africa and Argentina on alternate years... but there is no way to avoid insane travel for South Africa and Argentina.  No matter what the schedule, they both have to travel long distance for half their games... and I know we can say "Oh well, that's just what they need to do" but it is hardly fair and if neither side won the competition in 10 years, it would have lost it's credibility as a fair contest.

Don't even get me started on who would be available for Argentina if they were in the Tri-Nations.  No way European clubs would release the players so Argentina needs to have their own infrastructure upgraded so their players can grow up, play and develop IN Argentina.

6 Nations is most likely but I don't see it in the next few years.  Instead, all the top nations of England, NZ, France, Australia and South Africa should have one team tour Argentina each year and one team host an Argentine tour. PROPER tours too, not these one off tests.

  11. Where is Argetina? I never heard of it.

  12. No, it should be the 4th one, i.e. play in the quad nations. Northern hemisphere rugby is sinking, and it would be unfair to let argentina board the ship at this point.

  13. I think Europe would really benefit from it. We see the kind of disaster that happens now to the six nations. They manage to play decent rugby during the tournament, but they have no solutions to propose when they play other countries. Argentina has a very special style, which neither France nor Ireland manage to deal with. Facing this team more often would really force us to enlarge our range of strategies.

When I see how many players are in France, I don't think there would be any problem of travel. I heard last year that they would be ready to play their 'home' matches in Belgium!!

  14. no coz theyr from the southern hemisphere

  15. Absolutely, it would brighten up a dull championship. Most of their players play in Europe anyway.

  16. Would you travel to Argentina to watch them hammer us? ... i wouldn't.

There is talk of them entering the tri-nations, but the problems with that have already been mentioned.

An Americas tournament would probably be the best option, but while rugby remains a minority sport in those lands, the competition could just never match up.

  17. NO! They are a southern hemisphere country.

  18. If they played all their 'home' games in Spain. Their quality of play would merit it.

  19. I dont think it would ever happen as they are a southern hemisfere country but I would like to see them involved in the tri-nations. Talking of the six nations I would expect to see the likes of Portugal, Romania and Georgia adding to the competiion if they carry on improving like they have shown in this world cup.

  20. they should play in tri nations as they are a southern hemisphere team. so they will be able to play home games at home and not in europe.

  21. No, they should go in to tri-nations

However Georgia could come into "6" nations. Their retention of the ball and loose mawl plat was excellent.

  22. Defenitly if they can beat France they should let them play.

I love to watch Argentina play! SO LET THEM PLAY!!!

  23. It wouldnt work in the long term, i know the idea is there to base Argentina in Spain during the 6 nations and that most of their players already play in France with Contepomi in Ireland. But they are at the other side of the pond, the 6 nations was set up for European countries, Italy have come to be a power now over the last few years since they were aloud in. But if Argentina were aloud in to make it a 7 nations then what is to say that the likes of Tonga should be able to make it 8 (example) before you know it wouldnt be a European competition anymore. If anything they should join the Tri Nations at least then they would become really strong, playing the southern teams will strengthen their game.

As for the six nations its really repeditive, its the same games year in year out, there should be a second 6 nations for the lower teams like Portugal, Georgia, Spain and some more, with that there should be a relegation and promotion for the top two teams of the lower comp and the bottom teams of the main tournament.
