Yes, wind and ground based solar have already been shown to be wastes of money that still require fossil fuels to back them up for still nights.

Nothing lasts forever and when a nuclear power plant gos down thats bad.  Their are many natural catastrophes that can destroy a nuclear plant.  

Best ways are.

Volcanic power plants.

Hawaii has a power plant that runs on volcanic energy deep in the earth. why not us to?

Solar power like the first poster said. you got lots of land. sunny land at that.

The water car

their are cars that run on nothing but water. invented bye "Stanley Meyers" and "Daniel Dingel". look them up on youtube. You may know this as a hydrogen car. They get the hydrogen from water. But the car leaders want to charge you to put it in your car at stations instead of it being made in your car.  So why not a water powered power plant thats not a d**n.  Aussies are smart they can do it!
