Question:

Should Bord Gáis drop the advertising?

It advertises one of the most modern networks in Europe, despite having a very poor coverage. Not a single house in counties Donegal, Kerry, Leitrim, Longford, Roscommon, Sligo or Wexford has piped gas.

I'm sure they'd get more customers if they spent their advertising budget not on RTÉ, but on laying new pipes so other people could actually get gas piped into their homes

  1. The reason they have so much advertising is because during the summer months, the work-load drop waaay down and they need as much extra business as they can get...

They also, have incentives/prices etc....to help boost business

It very easy to see it the way you do, but my brother works with Bord Gais and while he would usually (in winter) have 6-8 jobs a day, over the last few months he has only had 2-3....so he's left sitting at home most of the day with no work....and because they are paid 'per-job', it means that money was very tight for him...

You wouldn't believe how many times this summer he finished by lunchtime, simply because the work wasn't there

I know it seems like a stupid place to put the money but basically, the exposure is really needed....but because its getting colder now, you will see less of the advertising...but theres your answer lol

Also, many of these houses dont have piped gas but at the same time, a lot of these people are reluctant to get the gas anyway, because the prices have risen so much
