  1. I don't believe we should.

On a local level, FPTP allows for the most popular MP in an area to sit in Parliament.  One of the advantages of this is that they can effectively represent their constiuencies on a personal level, which for the most part they do.  Locally, PR means just another responsibility shared among people where nothing gets done.

Nationally, PR will give minority parties more of a say.  While in a perfect world of consensus and working together this might sound like a good idea, in reality it would be distastrous.  We'd be in a situation where the lib dems would always be in government, holding sway over the other two parties in exchange for their allegiance.

Also traditionally FPTP systems have as a system have tended to be more stable.

  2. most definitely NOT it is a ploy by a minority party called the undemocratic liberal party to gain a foothold in power , just look at what happened to us in Scotland , firstly Nicol Stephen liberal leader and his accomplices jumped into bed with labour , Stephen then uttered the undemocratic statement ,quote ( we will NOT support a referendum of the Scottish people to hold a referendum on Independence) sum hope a Democratic party? , next the post of minister in charge of farming and fisheries R oss Finnie well the biggest fat head numptie of the lot the ministers of the EU used to snigger and laugh when he walked into the room , HE WAS THE ULTIMATE NUMPTIE

  3. I think so. I think it would make it a fairer system, as everybody (except for the extremeist parties) would be represented.

  4. No.

  5. Absolutely not, all that results from that is chaos and no overall leaders.

  6. No!

  7. just another title for the same sham!! really. it makes no difference. the only time we will see the end of the sham is when we bring in the death penalty for MPs who are caught lying to, or deceiving  the people.

  8. No - 1st past the post is best.

  9. this could be interesting . the concept is sound but if you think there are more working class people than middle or upper then overall they would always win elections ( think having Nu labour forever!!)

so all the  middle and upper classes would have  no say  and only way left to vote is with feet. exit thousands of able highly qualified folk to other countries  giving us.  a reduced  workforce. abilities etc across the board. We would only have second rate folk left to run everything.

sadly an example of this can be shown when Old labour got in and declared a tax war on the higher earners to  give the money from them to the poorer sections.

many thousands of  very well trained and qualified engineers, scientists, teachers, doctors and so on left  this country.  not to worry as labour pointed out , we have an excellent  program of incoming immigrants ) poor quality, education ,health etc but not that that mattered.

so now you see how  this once great nation got into  this state, its by removing the better educated, trained, qualified and well paid that you reduce your nation  status and well being.
