  1. No, NO;  HELLLL NOOOOO!

No more intervention in regional conflicts that are none of our d**n business.  The US is not the schoolmarm for the world.. let them solve their own problems.  Our money & the lives of our soldiers are not for the disposal of every conflict on the planet.

  2. It is a tragedy but it is a practical impossibility for the US to send troops to Georgia.  In the first place it will likely start a much bigger conflict that could lead to the worlds first nuclear war.  But the main reason why it is unlikely to start a world war is because US troops would likely be crushed if they intervened. Russia is a major world power with 1000's of troops in Georgia right now, tens of thousands of troops in the region and full control over Georgias land, air and water space.  How could the US possibly even begin to deploy troops in sufficient numbers to take on the Russians?

Probably the closest major US miltitary presence is Turkey and this is nowere near enough to be able to realistically intervene.

The only practical tool the US and Europeans have right now is diplomacy. And that is pretty unlikely to have any good conclusion for Georgia.  It seems pretty likely that South Ossetia and Abkahzia are gone for good for Georgia, sad as that may be.

Having said that Shakashvili was extremely unwise to ignore European and US advice and militarily intervene in South Ossetia.  He should have known that there was no practical way to win and that it was practically impossible for any of his allies to intervene on his behalf. And while Georgias claim on Ossetia & Abkhazia is fully legitimate it was not very responsible to conduct somewhat indiscriminate artillery barrages against areas full of civilians.

It is sad to watch a tragedy unfolding but unfortunately the world can only be mute spectators to Russian brutality.

  3. No unless you WANT Russia to aim their missles at us and start a bigger and much grander crisis.

  4. No. It's none of his d**n business. Neither was Iraq. Look what a mess he made with Iraq.

  5. Send WHAT troops?

We're so tied up in Iraq and Afghanistan, we can't go *anywhere*...

  6. LET THE EUROPEANS BEAR A SHARE OF THE WORLD'S CONFLICTS. THEIR ARMIES, ESPECIALLY THE GERMANS, HAVE RESTED LONG ENOUGH. LET THE BANNERS UNFURL AND 'DEUTSCHLAND UBER ALLES' RING AGAIN THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. LET THE GERMANS WREAK THEIR REVENGE ON WHAT WAS DONE TO THEM FOR THE PAST TWO WORLD WARS.

  7. No.

  8. To provocative.Just see what develops.
