  1. Absolutely! Its not his fault he only pitched a half season in the nL.

he has the best record of any pitcher traded at mid-season, in the last 90 years of MLB !!

He has the best era in the NL. and  is 9-0. 1.43 ERA!!

Yes he deserves to be on the short list.

  2. Yes but he still won't be able to beat Brandon Webb

  3. Yes, but I still think Webb will win the NL Cy Young, even though he was horrible in the first inning of tonights game.

  4. you know i think he will making that great web jem and hes been undefeated i think he will and look brandon webb is getting his era not up because the team the dogdger are killing them right now so yes c.c will be it

  5. Contender yes...will he win no

Webb and Lincecum are still ahead of him.

He will be competing for 3rd with Dempster,Volquez,Peavy,Billingsley

  6. Yea,but he's not winning it because he's only pitched half the season in the NL...Webb is most likely winning the Cy Young.

  7. unfortunately he doesnt have a chance.  Its a win-biased award, it will go to Webb if he doesnt fall apart.  Sabathia can only win one award, and thats MVP.  Yes, its possible.  The award is Most Valuable Player.  Would the brewers be where they are without him?  Thats the question, so if the brewers get to the world series, then i think he has a legitimate shot, but itll be hard to compete with Pujols.

  8. Yes.  He might have 15 wins by the end of the season.

  9. He already was before today.

If he gets the no-hitter, I think he's the top candidate.

  10. Doyle Alexander went 9-0, 1.53 in 11 starts for the 1987 Tigers after being traded by the Braves (for John Smoltz) in August. He got one first place AL CYA vote and finished (a distant) fourth (Clemens won in a landslide).

Randy Johnson went 10-1, 1.28 in 11 starts for the 1998 Astros after being traded by the Mariners at the end of July. He got two third-place votes, finishing seventh (and last) in the NL CYA vote. Not much, but he was there. (Glavine squeaked past Hoffman for the award.)

So there's sound precedent for giving some consideration, if not the actual trophy, to a mid-season interleague acquisition.

Sabathia is 9-0, 1.43 in 11 starts, and will probably get another five starts if the Brewers stay in strong contention (which it looks that they will). If he wins four or five of those, finishes 13-1 or (especially) 14-0, and keeps his ERA below 1.5, I can see him getting lots of CYA voters' attention. Win? Webb's getting hammered tonight, but with 19 wins he's sure to get 20. One or two other starters might win 20 but Webb's the only strong candidate, so it would be down to Brandon against CC. Voters have a hard time resisting a wins total that begins with a "2", so Sabathia will probably finish second. Here's hoping he holds up better in October than he did last year, because he's probably going to be there.
