  1. Fascinating...I am experiencing the same thing. I have put off my FAFSA for months and months because it is such a long, dreadful thing to do (even to renew). I believe they understand that people turn it in late though and it is neccessary regardless to determine what kind of financial aid you can get. You and I should do this ASAP regardless whether we want to or not.

  2. You should still fill out your FAFSA because there is still a possibility that if you qualify you may get awarded a grant and if you would like a Stafford Loan and qualify you can still apply for one.

Here are the deadlines for FAFSA

    The 2008-2009 School Year (July 1st, 2008 - June 30th, 2009):

        * FAFSA on the Web applications must be submitted by midnight Central Daylight time, June 30, 2009.

        * Corrections on the Web forms must be submitted by midnight Central Daylight time, September 15, 2009.

        * Note: Your school must have your complete and correct information by your last day of enrollment in the 2008-2009 school year.

  3. You should, even if you passed the deadline. If you qualify but turn it in late, you could still get reimbursement after the school year is over.

  4. What you did by not doing the form as soon as you got your taxes (or your folks taxes) is put yourself on the bottom of the list for assistance. If you are eligible you will get something, but maybe not as soon as you need it.

Keep this in mind for next year.

  5. While June is the national deadline, each state has its own.  Here is the deadline for California:

    For initial awards - March 2, 2008

For additional community college awards - September 2, 2008 - date postmarked
