  1. Only if Canada becomes an officail state of the US, and not the US becoming a state of France.

  2. No, it's a terrible idea.  It would be the end of Canada as we know it, and I love Canada just as it is (and I'm an American!)

Now if the US could become a province of Canada, maybe then.

  3. No way,I am Canadian and love Canada,eh!

  4. No, not now not ever.

  5. No no no no no from a Canadian,

But I do believe that one day in the near future there will be aa North American dollar basically all the money is the same

  6. Who asks this kind of question?

What would possibly be gained by such a thing?

  7. I bet Canadians would rather die fighting back, than see it happen. USA is so fu*ked up, why do the same to them ?

  8. Canada is welcome to come join the USA.

Not us and them emerge as a new country, but as part of this one (United States of America).

    Otherwise, forget it!

  9. Canaderica?

  10. But I wonder why did they not do it till now, with America's 50 and canada's provinces as equal constituents. Let them call their counrty simply 'America' (sounds like Armorica). It will be the largest country.

  11. then alaska would be part of the continental country...weird

  12. Um, i wouldn't mind.

  13. No. bad idea

  14. No the U.S.A would ruin Canada.

    =]

  15. I hope that Canada does join the U.S. someday for the same reasons I want Ontario, British Columbia or any other area to be part of Canada.

Look at most of the answers from Canadians.  It's just their pride talking when they reject the U.S. in favor of the status quo because if they were born in a Canada that was part of the U.S., they would be just as proud to be American, although they are too proud to admit that as well.

Free trade includes labor, so the worst part about the border is it stops workers who could, would, and should otherwise cross it for better jobs (This is what we try to explain to the Quebec separatists too, but they don't believe it?).  Alberta, Canada is having an oil boom right now with labor shortages in many areas, but only 10,942 Americans came to Canada in 2006, up from 5,828 in 2000, but still far below what any natural migration rate would be, which proves how at odds with economic theory on free trade U.S./Canada immigration policies are.

There is evidence that despite NAFTA, that the border is still a barrier to trade in goods also.  For example, many products are only introduced to Canada long after the U.S., such as Apple's iPhone.  A lot of that is because Apple's American workers can't  just go distribute iPhones in Canada and because of the need to adapt to a different set of laws in Canada.

There is one big problem most of you don't consider:  if Canada just joins the U.S. as is, Canada would be revolting against Britain as the U.S. did.  Canada would have to reject it's legal tie to Britain which is the Queen of England as Canada's head of state, and instead would have to use U.S. money with men painted on it who would have been hanged for treason against the British Empire if they had lost.  (We know this because Canadians who supported the U.S. in the War of 1812 were hanged.  "Why does treason never prosper?  Because if it prospers, none dare call it treason."  Source: JFK movie)

I'm English-Canadian, which means English & Canadian as opposed to just American. I don't look up to Americans revolting against their own people in Britain in 1776 because Britain made and defended the U.S & Canada. Americans and Canadians are indistinguishable, so what other reason is there for Canada to be separate?  Revolting just 14 years after Britain helped the U.S. beat France was like getting divorced after s*x.  Where's the honor in that?  In the end, it didn't lower taxes, nor did it make the U.S. more free if you consider that the British Empire ended slavery in 1833, long before the U.S. in 1865.  Usually we have to solve our problems within.  We can't just endlessly separate.

Maybe the U.S. could join the British Commonwealth of Nations if Canada joined because I doubt the U.S. would accept the Queen of England as their head of state as Canada has. Revolting against the inherited dictatorship monarchy was a good thing but not against Britain.

  16. The U.S. should invade both Canada and Mexio and declare marshall law.

  17. Hello to the NO

  18. Yes - this would be a good idea IMO

  19. No way! Canada is too good a country for that.
