Question:

Should Cars be built with a speed limit?

Do cars REALLY need to go 110MPH? If the speed limit on most major highways is 55 then why drive any faster? Why not build cars to go ONE speed to save lives and reduce accidents? The only cars that should go faster than that are emergency cars like the Police, Fire Department, Ambulances. Someone should speak to Congress about this.

Do we really need to go 0-60 in 6 seconds?

What's your opinion. Thanks

  1. The car manufacturers dont care and this would never happen because they only care about "MONEY"..

    Remember that speed sells cars..................

  2. but your big boy knickers on and stop trying to be the worlds safety cop.

  3. the faster deceleration rates available from higher speed crashes cause greater injury and more deaths-insurance companies should be making working speed limiters a condition of insurance policy payouts.  They have much to gain from this.

  4. You wanna drive 55MPH? Fine go ahead and do it. I want to drive faster. MYOB!

  5. Maybe you don't need to go 0-60 in 6 seconds, but somebody else does. Why should you care?

  6. What if i wanted to drive my car on a race track??

  7. While speeding can really cut into anyones budget with tickets. I do not think any law that government inacts really does anything but mess up and most laws have unintended effects. My car can do 0-60 in 4.3 seconds and top out well past 145 miles an hour Speed Limiter removed. That speed is necessary when running from the bank robbery. Or to beat the amblance and hearse to my funeral. It won't be long people will be riding bicycles with gasoline prices going north of 3.60 premium in Texas. Happy April Fool's day

  8. who would buy a car that only goes up to 60mph

when in some states, the speed limit is about 75!

  9. O to 200 is Jaguar car.in 6sec with auto gears!!!!!!

public road is not not meant for  RACE-COURSE

God help human to fit speed-limiting device, already available in market

    safety first speed second

If INSURACE COMPANIES insist it will work out, while registering a new car/ truck/ any automotives

  10. You try driving across the country at 55 mph.

It'll be like the olden times..it'll take you like 20 years to get to another state.

Also, sometimes you would need to speed up to go past a slow driver, or go past a dangerous driver, or switch lanes safetly (cause if you switch lanes going too slow you'll get rear-ended by the person behind you, I think, anyway). Maybe you need to speed up to get out of the way of some idiot that runs a red light (like what happened to me the other day...only, my car can't accelerate to save its life so I got hit).

    Long story short: No.

  11. Cars are made with governors which already regulate how fast they can go. And some states don't have only 55mph speed limits. I used to live in Minnesota where the vast majority of roads are 70 to 75mph speed limits. And where I live now most of our highways are 65mph

And no I need to do 0 to 60 in 5.2 seconds not 6 seconds. =)
