I don't know anything about channel 7, but NBC should rename it it from the Olympics to the Commercial Marathon.  This has been the worst coverage of the Olympics I have ever (or have not) seen. Rediculous!

All every channel shows is swimming and gymnastics like they are the only 2 sports in the whole Olympics.

Channel 7?  I'm so confused.  Channel 7 isn't showing any swimming at all here!  They're showing Supernanny instead.  Oh c**p!

swimming may well be in the first week, but have you seen the schedule of sports OTHER than swimming!?

we missed most of the archery, rifle/pistol. etc. etc.

last night was the ONLY night i sat down, and watched an event of the olympic games. it was men's archey and it was on SBS!!.

channel 7 should be ashamed! they make themselves appear biased to the games we contend in, which pretty much is swimming and hockey and some basketball. not that you can actually see the whole game without ads, and highlights of the overplayed medals from S.Rice etc...

she won, thats great. get on with the range of games!!!

no wonder people dont care about it that much, or think its so boring. no-one can really see the variety of sports that the olympics has to offer.CH7 did this last olympics as well, and they didnt learn.

It seems like swimming is the only sport that they EVER show anywhere.

If you think it's bad in Australia, NBC here in the U.S. is all swimming, gymnastics, and that's the first week.  Apparently NBC might as well remame the olympics the Michael Phelps show.

One of the reasons is that the Olympics goes over a 2 week period.  The swimming is always held in the first week, the athletics always held in the second week.

When the final swimming race concludes, the athletics will start, then everyone will be whinging about it being Olympic Athletics 2008.

The various TV stations coverage is always geared to cover the most popular sports.  At the moment, the most popular sport being conducted is the swimming, so you are going to get full coverage of swimming.

Channel 7's coverage started off as a bitter disappointed but has disintergrated into an utter disgrace.  Every night i have had to wait up until 1.30am in the hope of seeing some footage of the athletics!!!!  I have spent more time watching SBS so as to see sports other than swimming which get replayed 20 times per night.

They have shown a grand total of about 10mins of field events from the athletics and the men's 100m aside every event has been delayed or not even shown at all.  In some cases they haven't even shown the Aussies competing (Exhibit A - Men's Long Jump!!!)  If they don't want to show the athletics events PUT THEM ON SBS OR PUT THE FEED ON THE INTERNET, LIVE!!

All i can say is that i hope that channel 9 can get it together in 4 years time because this coverage has been anything but "Special" by channel 7 in 2008.

Channel 7 have done such a c**p job at the coverage. I have been taping the games during the day and watching it when I got home. Yesterdays tape showed about 40 minutes of the gymnastics final and only showed 3 of the Australian girls (2 on the vault and 1 on the beam) and that was it!!! All they showed was the chinese and the americans. These girls deserve to be shown just as much as the winners. The amount of ads they show are ridiculous. They had just came back from a break and showed about a minute of the sailing, went to the news update for 2 minutes and then went back adverts!

SBS are the ones doing a great job - even tho they can't show the main sports, at least they are showing full games and a variety.

Yes I agree but they are not the only culprits. Sky news this morning had an Olympic Roundup of yesterdays sport and ONLY showed swmming! I watched it live yesterday ( I love to watch the swimming) on my phone as I was out and about, then in the evening channel 7 they kept cutting away from the gymnastics which to recap on all the days events I'd already seen! This morning I caught a short glimpse of the banal SUnrise team and their fanatical following of the swimming so yes yes yes I agree! (And I love the swimming! but do want to see other thing - and not just those involving AUstralians which is pretty much all the leave the swimming for!)

LOL at Jilliane - we are talking Channel 7 Australia who have ALL the coverage of major sports here....but only show swimming (well not quite but it seems like it!)
