That is, if they are wearing the uniform to class.

  1. Absolutely!    If they are in class they need to dress appropriately.   I was in the dance squad and our uniforms were designed to fit with our regular uniforms.

3 inches above the knee is fairly liberal anyway.  Once you sit down - you are at mid thigh.

  2. IT makes sence to me, why should Cheerleaders get a break on the dress code that every other student has to follow?

I also find it a bit disturbing that we teach kids that s*x sells

However, thinking back to my days in high school, very short skirts, low tops, etc did make very boring classes more enjoyable

  3. Cheerleaders look like "nice whores" to me, so I fully agree.

  4. They shouldn't be allowed to wear them during class if they violate the school's dress code, end of story.  Cheerleaders are already set up to be the dominant girls in the school because of their sexually-charged role. (Don't argue with me about that, I would know.)  The school faculty itself tends to act like these girls are something extra special because of the amount that they're involved in school activities, so making them exempt just adds to the problem.

I was on the dance team and the cheer  squad for one year during high-school and loved to wear my uniforms on game day. Our school didn't have a very strict policy about skirt length, however. You would be sent home if it looked "obscene". The school needs to either change the dress codes for everyone, or tell the cheerleaders to wait until game time to wear the uniform.

  5. Sounds fair to me.

Schools have dress codes, and uniforms for some reason.  I'm not sure I agree with them, however it contradicts all the "reasons" of having them if you let the cheerleaders slide.

I was on the swim team...can I wear my uniform to class?  We worked really had to raise the money for those suits as well.

  6. Yes, they should be as covering as the dress code requires any outfit to be.

  7. Yes, absolutely. There is no reason why cheerleaders should not have to follow the dress-code like everyone else.

  8. I think if a school has a dress code then no one should be exempt...

  9. i like wearing my uni to class

well my coach makes us wear bloomers that r like shorts

rules are rules n if they dont change them parents r gonna have 2 deal with it

or make their child quit cheering

  10. I have a different view in regards to this issue.  When I was in school, I was part of the drama club and every time there was an opening night for a new production, we were allowed and even encouraged to wear our costumes as a show of school spirit and to encourage everyone to attend the performance.  Sometimes the costumes we wore didn't quite meet the school's dress code, but we were allowed to wear it anyway as it was a special circumstance.

I would see a cheerleader's uniform as the same sort of thing.  It's not like cheerleaders wear their uniforms to school every day.  Usually it's for special circumstances, like before a pep rally or a really important game.  I would never have a problem with the uniform breaking regular dress codes if it was only for these special circumstances.  It's not like a cheerleader wearing her uniform will encourage girls to wear skirts as short, because it would be clear that it's not a regular occurrence.  Every other day, the cheerleaders would be wearing their regular clothes to class, which would be within the school's dress code.
