Cheli's been hanging out in Chi-town w/the Cup and even went so far as to say he will always be a Blackhawk.

  1. Cheli will return to the Wings, an agreement has been reached between Holland and Cheli, just not signed yet. Holland says Cheli will retire a Wing! That as long as he was physically capable he would have some sort of spot on the team. So unless Cheli has some delusions of grandeur to join the Hawks, its not going to happen. BTW- Its common for players to take the Cup back to their hometown and share it with them, they all do it. It just so happens that Chicago is considered Cheli's hometown and he played there. I wouldnt read much into it. What was he going to say... "Hey Chicago, look what I have.. too bad I am a Wing cause the Hawks were too cheap and traded me?"

Did you also see that Cheli said he looked forward to playing in the Winter Classic? AS A WING in his hometown!

As far as SHOULD HE sign with the Wings..... his mentoring is priceless (he could help Quincey become a much better defenseman than his projections).. and having him on a PK and as healthy scratch and a very little used 7th man might be a good option. BUT, on the other side of the coin there are Meech, Quincey, Ericsson that all would be getting significant time on other teams. Is it time to let them get their icetime? Its a toss up on what is right for the Wings at this time.

    I TRUST KEN HOLLAND!

The word is that they will keep Ericsson down in GR for another year.... and that the 8 Dmen they carry will be (yes they will carry 8 Dmen and 13 forwards this year according to Ken Holland):

    Lids-Rafi

    Kronner-Stuart

    Lebda- ? (Chelios, Meech, Quincey)

....and they will trade Lilja just before the start of the season to clear Cap Space (1.25mil, exactly what is needed for Chelios and Quincey)

Side note- Quincey has been in boxing training all summer for the sake of being an enforcer on the Wings and getting more icetime.. if the Wings could dress him as the 6th Dman and the Enforcer, then they wouldnt have to dress Downey or McCarty on the 4th line giving them a highly skilled 4th line (comparedly to other teams) that would be a huge advantage.  A 4th line would loook something like this....

Kopecky- Hudler- Sammy, assuming that .....

    Zata-Pavs-Holmer

    Franzen-Flip-Hossa

    Draper-Malts-Cleary

  2. The red wings shouldn't return to the red wings....

  3. what is that some kind of joke?
