Question:

Should Children Play in The Parking Lot?

I live in an apartment complex which I guess can be called ghetto, we've got mice, roaches and a crappy landlord.

There are a couple of children in this building and their parents let them play outside in the parking lot!

I think it is ridiculous, I can't even open my window and feel the fresh air without hearing these kids yelling, playing, and crying.

They seriuosly utilize this parking lot as a play ground! It sounds like a playground, at any given day there are about 8 kids playing in the parking lot.

What I don't get is why the parents can't take ther children for a minute walk across the street to the open field to play. Or why they can't take their kids to a 8 minute walk to the park?

I am literally going out of my head, these kids are so d**n loud!

I have a little one too, but I do not, and would not ever let her play int he parking lot, I take her to the park, to the library, or to playdates at the park with her friends.

Should children play in the lot?

  1. Well, technically its down to the Landlord to set the rules so 'No ball games allowed' is usually one you get in areas like that. I would try to get a petition going from other residents to get him to act and set some ground rules.

As a parent, I don't think it is good either. I guess it depends on the age of the children. The parents may think they're old enough to be out without needing their hand held all the time but still want them close by. They're doing it from laziness as they really should take the time to be with their kids!

And a parking lot is certainly not safe! We live in apartments and there is a bend up a slight hill where the cars come round to the parking spaces and any very small children would not be seen by the driver! I certainly wouldn't let my daughter play out there!

  2. I understand what you are saying and it would get annoying, but maybe the Mother of these kids needs to get her housework done and the only way the kids can play outside is right there where she can check on them.

  3. Oh that would irk me.  I see it all the time where I live but in my case it is IN THE STREET!  I just don't get that mentality!!!  That stinks you have to deal with the loudness.  UGGGH!  Maybe say something to the landlord.  LOL!  I would do that to see if something can be changed.  GOOD LUCK!
