  1. No more than Bobby Bowden should have been fired after # 5 Miami routed No. 1 and heavily favored Florida State 31-0 in the season opener.  This was Sept. 3, 1988 and Bobby Bowden went on to guide FSU to 2 National Titles (1993 & 1999) down the road.  Sometimes teams don't start well but finish strongly later on.  Clemson will be fine.

Bobby and FSU lived down that loss and so will Clemson.

  2. Keep Bowden and drop into App State's division if a national championship is desired!  SEC rocks!  Watch UT dismantle UCLA

tonight.  11-1 first week for the SEC!  Go c***s!!!!!!!!I

Whoops!!!  Oh well, I stand corrected.  The game was fun to

watch.  Hats off to UCLA and their NEW COACH!

  3. give atreyu best-answer. he's completely correct

  4. I don't think its really bowden's fault but that certainly was a disappointing loss, harper was very bad in the game, and i dont think the off coordinater did a good job of using james and spiller's talent on offense.

  5. One game in the season and you're already trying to get rid of the coach, first of all, rankings at the start of the season don't mean squat, last year, every team that was ranked # 1,went and lost the following week,Clemson might have been ranked too high to start with or Alabama too low, must be nice to be the coach where you're appreciated

  6. Thomas has got to go. Great talent, great school, medicorce coach who gets medicorce results every year. Thomas schedules enough Citadels, Dukes, NC States, SC States to get his 7-9 wins a year and a bowl game. If Clemson wants to return to the glory years of smash muth, real football, Thomas has got to go.

  7. absolutely:  what a shame that was.  I have been thinking Ray Rhodes needs a shot a head coaching again

  8.    Absolutely!!!

A proven coach who can recruit proven coaches (not to be confused with who his/her "daddy" is).

  9. That may have happened under Danny Ford, but he was a heck of a better coach!  Give me a break.  If Clemson can't win the ACC with this kind of talent (despite that loss) maybe this question should be asked a little LOUDER than it has in the past.

  10. Yes fire him.  As Clemson faithful fans, we were enamored by Bowden's 2000 season, only to be slaughtered by FSU and VT in the gator bowl. Disappointment was then a persistent occurrence as we settled for the Humanitarian bowl in 2001. Then destroyed in 2002's Orlando bowl by Texas Tech. 2004 and 2005's bowls were decent, and we beat Miami in 2004! Only we lost to Duke the following week. Subsequent disappointments include: GT (2007), Auburn (2007), Alabama (2008), BC (2007, 2006), VT (2007, 2006) Texas A&M (in college station, destroyed).

I feel Bowden has the capabilities of bringing talent to Clemson, but cannot bring control over players emotions (2004 USC brawl) or playing abilities. Consistently underachieving and bringing mediocre seasons while never striving for excellence. I respect him as a coach, but feel he no longer fits with what we are trying to achieve (a non-embarrassing persistently good team in public eye). Thus I'd say  Bowden should be a man, admit to his faults and resign with dignity.   Either way if Clemson wants to climb out of a mediocrity slump, they should buy out his contract, take the loss, and terminate him.

As for who.  It doesnt matter.  Pick somebody until the end of the season.

  11. If every non-SEC coach were fired after their team got spanked by SEC teams, it would be a merry-go-round.  Bowden is a class act. His players need a thump on the head after their lack of energy last night.  To say it's all Bowden's fault discounts Saban completely.  He's won a National Championship.  He'll win another.  Persecuting Bowden will continue to set Clemson football back almost as much as the NCAA violations under Danny Ford. That would not be a wise course of action.

  12. Well, if its based on last nights game...he should be fired! Alabama was #24 and has a VERY young team, and they walked all over them tigers last night...i think we should see hoe the rest of their season goes..who knows?! But... ROLL TIDE ROLL!

"HEY TIGERS! WE JUST BEAT THE h**l OUT OF YOU! RAMMER JAMMER YELLOW HAMMER, GIVE EM h**l ALABAMA!!" ROLL TIDE!
